Zimbabwe Cricket has taken swift action against two players from the National Premier League after they tested positive for recreational dr_g use.
Blessed Muzite, a batsman for the Scorpions, and Brighton Chipungu, a bowler for Takashinga Patriots 2, have been suspended from all cricket activities pending a disciplinary hearing.
The players were found to have tested positive for mar!juana during an in-house doping test conducted recently.
The Zimbabwe Cricket board has taken a zero-tolerance approach towards dr_g use and has acted swiftly to suspend the players while an investigation is ongoing.
According to sources close to the matter, the two players will appear before a disciplinary committee soon to answer charges related to their positive test results.
The committee will hear evidence and testimonies from both parties before making a decision on their punishments.
This is not the first time that Zimbabwe Cricket has dealt with dr_g-related issues. In 2019, several players from the national team were suspended after testing positive for dr_gs, including star batsman Brendan Taylor.
The disciplinary hearing is expected to take place soon. In the meantime, Muzite and Chipungu will have to sit out of all cricket activities until further notice.
