Circumstances are that on the 12th of June 2024 ZACC Investigations officers namely Mhango and Mutembwa, approached a ZINACO member at Corner Nelson Mandela and 5th Avenue whilst he was seated in his car and asked him what he was doing. A ZINACO official told the guys that he had ordered Sadza awaiting for the order to come out, ZACC team called another partner of theirs by the name Masakadza. ZINACO official asked the three guys from ZACC if they had problems with ZINACO or him in person.
Mhango and Masakadza started assaulting ZINACO official at that time Mutembwa was busy taking Zimbabwe National Anti-Corruption (ZINACO) files which were in his car, after about 5 minutes assaulting the innocent ZINACO official for no apparent reason they three ZACC officers overpowered and forced the ZINACO official in to an unregistered motor vehicle.
They took him to Avondale Police Station, upon arrival the Officer in Charge asked if the ZINACO official had left any of his properties behind. ZINACO official told the OIC Avondale that his car was left unguarded at Conner N/Mandela and 5th street Harare. The OIC told the ZACC officers that the law says, you must secure an accused persons property first if you say he has been arrested.
The ZINACO Official then called the President’s Office for assistance the OPC guys quickly arrived at Avondale Police. Upon their arrival that’s when the ZACC officers told Zinaco member that he was under arrest for c/s179 of the code. ZACC took the matter to court alleging that the ZINACO had impersonated ZACC officer. The state lead evidence and closed its case, the State’s case was referred to defense case. All the exhibits tendered in court by ZACC belonged to ZINACO that includes letters, IDs and lanyards. When passing verdict, the court concluded that there was no evidence that someone who was seating in his car had impersonated ZACC, and at the same time all the IDs tendered in Court as exhibits belonged to Zimbabwe National Anti-Corruption Organization ZINACO, there is no way a ZINACO official would have impersonated ZACC with a ZINACO ID.
ZINACO spokesperson Machinga E told the press that, this behavior by Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) of going around hunting ZINACO members should come to end this minute or otherwise we will not hesitate to file a lawsuit against ZACC over malicious arrest, detention, defamation and prosecution of ZINACO members.
The ZINACO spokesperson also told the press that, they have appealed to the President’s office for intervention over such uncalled for behavior by ZACC, they feel threatened by our non-governmental organizations, the next time they repeat this kind of behavior we are going to let go of it but, we are going to sue them, “said ZINACO spokesperson” the nation at large is in shambles due to corruption it is high time we join hands and fight corruption as a nation, because vision 2030 is for every Zimbabwean. It is every Zimbabwean’s duty to fight corruption.
It is our vision to see a corrupt free Zimbabwe. It is also our mission as ZINACO to build a nation that propels economy to better heights.
We as ZINACO has vowed that as long Zimbabwe is not declared a corrupt free nation we are not going to stop fighting for this cancer to end.
