A white Isuzu truck was hijacked on Saturday in Khayelitsha, Cape Town, in a brazen daylight theft that initially left a Zimbabwean family devastated.
The truck, belonging to a hardworking couple delivering chickens, became the target when they briefly stepped away to unload their order.
Tragically, their three-month-old baby, Tinashe Sundayi, was inside the vehicle when an unknown assailant seized the opportunity to drive off.
The parents immediately alerted authorities and launched a frantic search for their child.
While the baby has since been found safe, the truck remains missing, intensifying the family’s distress.
The Cape Town police have mobilized a comprehensive effort to locate the stolen vehicle and return it to the family, who have withheld their identities for safety reasons.

They continue to appeal urgently to the public for any information that could lead to the recovery of their truck.
A hotline has been established, and a photo of Tinashe has been widely circulated along with details of the incident.
“We are heartbroken and desperate,” said the father, visibly emotional. “Our sole focus is reuniting with our baby boy. Please, if anyone has seen anything, come forward.”
The Khayelitsha community rallied behind the family, supporting the search efforts through social media and local networks.
Flyers with Tinashe’s information have been distributed across the area in hopes of generating leads.
The safe return of baby Tinashe remains the top priority, emphasizing the urgency of finding the stolen truck swiftly.
As the investigation continues, the family clings to hope, grateful for Tinashe’s safety but deeply anxious for the return of their vehicle and the resolution of this traumatic ordeal.
