Popular entrepreneur and socialite Zodwa Mkandla has found herself at the center of speculation about her relationship with Namibian heartthrob Luis Munana.
Rumors began circulating when cozy photos of the two were shared on social media, leading many to believe that Luis was Zodwa’s new boyfriend.
In a recent interview with The Herald, Zodwa addressed these claims, firmly asserting that Luis is not her romantic partner but rather a close friend.
Their friendship began in Zambia in 2023, where they bonded over a shared passion for fashion during the Lusaka July event.
“Luis and I are friends,” Zodwa declared confidently. “We clicked instantly because of our love for fashion. Furthermore, we have taken our friendship further by collaborating on some business ventures.”

Zodwa wanted to emphasize the unique nature of their friendship, urging people to reconsider the stereotype that men and women cannot simply be friends. “I am a special friend to him,” she remarked. “It’s important for people to understand that a man and a woman can absolutely be friends, a concept that tends to be challenging for the African community to grasp.”
Additionally, Zodwa shared that their friendship has led to various collaborations, and they have attended several events together. She noted that Luis has visited Zimbabwe multiple times, including being a guest judge at the Miss Universe Zimbabwe pageant, which she invited him to after their initial meeting.
“After we met in Zambia, we explored many business opportunities together. Some people may not be familiar with him, which leads to the misunderstanding, but we are indeed friends and business partners,” Zodwa clarified.
