The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed the arrest of two women, Nokuthula Sibanda, aged 63, and Nothando Ndlovu, 48, in connection with a series of fraudulent activities that involved eight separate cases reported between December 2022 and November 2024 in Bulawayo.
It is alleged that the duo misrepresented themselves as legitimate agencies specializing in job placements in the United Kingdom, preying on hopeful job seekers who were looking for better employment opportunities abroad.
The suspects reportedly built a façade of credibility, which led many individuals to trust them with their money.
The total amount defrauded from the victims reached a staggering US$47,811.00.
Many of the complainants were led to believe that they were making a genuine investment in their future careers, only to find out that they had fallen victim to a well-orchestrated scam.
The police investigation revealed that the suspects used various deceptive tactics to lure victims, including fake advertisements and testimonials, further complicating the case.
In light of these developments, the ZRP has urged the public to exercise caution when dealing with agencies that promise employment opportunities, particularly those based abroad.
The police have also stated that they will continue their investigations to uncover any additional victims and hold the perpetrators accountable for their actions.
