The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has urged the public, particularly drivers, not to leave their vehicle engines running unattended.
This cautionary measure comes in the wake of a recent incident of motor vehicle theft in Eastlea, Harare, on May 10.
According to reports, an Orange Proton Gen 2 GLS bearing the vehicle registration number ADR 5543 was stolen under circumstances where the owner had momentarily left the engine running. Allegedly, the victim disembarked from the vehicle to open a gate, leaving the engine running unattended. Seizing the opportunity, an unknown perpetrator swiftly entered the vehicle and drove off.
In response to this incident, the Zimbabwe Republic Police is calling upon anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the stolen vehicle to come forward and assist with the investigation. Authorities emphasize the importance of community cooperation in recovering the stolen property and bringing the perpetrator to justice.
In light of this development, the Zimbabwe Republic Police reiterates its commitment to maintaining public safety and security, urging individuals to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or information that may aid in combating crime within their communities.
Anyone in possession of relevant information regarding the stolen vehicle or potential leads is urged to report to the nearest police station promptly.
