2025 Zimsec Exam Fees & Closing Dates Released – check here

The Zimbabwe Schools Examination Council (Zimsec) has made a major announcement regarding the 2025 exam fees and closing dates for O and A level exams.

According to a notice issued on Tuesday, Zimsec confirmed that the examination fees for the June and November 2025 exams have been set.

In a bid to support public school students, the government has agreed to cover 55% of the exam fees.

For candidates attending public schools, the subsidy will be applied to a maximum of seven O level subjects and four A level subjects. Candidates in private schools and colleges, including private candidates in public schools, will need to pay the full exam fees.

The notice reads, “Government will be subsidizing the 2025 Ordinary and Advanced level examination fees for candidates in public schools, Local Authority Schools and Mission Schools… All candidates in private schools and colleges, including private candidates in public schools will pay the full cost of the examination fees.”

Here’s a breakdown of the exam fees per subject:

O-Level exam fees:
– Public Schools (Formal): US$11.00
– Private Schools & Colleges: US$24.00
– Extra-Territorial Candidates: US$56.00

A-Level exam fees:
– Public Schools (Formal): US$22.00
– Private Schools & Colleges: US$48.00
– Extra-Territorial Candidates: US$98.00

Zimsec also allows payments in South African Rand or Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG) at the prevailing interbank rate. Candidates can pay in ZiG for both the June and November exams, with specific payment periods and closing dates.

For the June 2025 exams, ZiG payments can be made from March 10 to March 14, 2025, with the closing date being March 14, 2025.

For the November 2025 exams, ZiG payments can be made from March 24 to March 28, 2025, with the closing date being March 28, 2025.

The notice reads, “2025 June Examination fees payment in ZWG to be made during the period 10 March and 14 March 2025 at the prevailing rate of the 10 of March 2025… The closing date for payments and submission of proof of payments accompanied by entries for the June examinations is 14 March 2025.”

This means that parents and guardians wishing to pay the exam fees in ZiG for the November 2025 exams have until March 28, 2025, to make the payment.
