A remarkable 100-year-old man has recently set a new Guinness World Record for the longest tenure at a single company, clocking in an impressive 84 years and 9 days of service.
Walter Orthmann, hailing from Brazil, has dedicated his entire career to the same textile company since starting as a shipping assistant at the tender age of 15.
This milestone was officially recognized on January 6, according to a statement from Guinness World Records.
Walter began working to help lift his family out of financial hardship during difficult times.
“Back in 1938, it was common for children to work to support their families,” he recounted in the press release. “As the oldest of five siblings, my mother took me to search for a job when I was just 14.”
Over the years, Walter advanced in his career, eventually rising to a prominent position as a successful sales manager.

He celebrated his 100th birthday this past April, surrounded by family, friends, and coworkers who have been with him throughout his journey.
When asked about his career philosophy, Walter emphasized the importance of finding a good employer and pursuing one’s passions. “When we do what we love, time seems to fly,” he shared.
This latest achievement marks a new milestone for Walter, who had previously set the record in 2019 with 81 years and 85 days at the same company.
