Prominent opposition politician Job Sikhala has vehemently denied having any association with self-imposed Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) Secretary General Sengezo Tshabangu.
This comes after claims emerged suggesting that Sengezo Tsabangu is the one who negotiated Job Sikhala’s release from Chikurubhi Maximum prison
Tshabangu, claiming credit for negotiating Sikhala’s release, asserted in a recent radio interview with ZiFM Stereo that he sent a CCC delegation to engage in talks with state authorities.
He argued for a political solution, characterizing Sikhala as a “political prisoner” mistreated by their own movement.
“I am negotiating with the State for Sikhala’s release. I will be sending a delegation to meet the State authorities that Job is not supposed to be where he is because he was thrown under the bus by our movement and this is sad that our movement can go and visit Sikhala and cry and yawn for his release yet they know behind their back,” Tshabangu said.
However, in an exclusive interview with source, Job Sikhala vehemently denied any knowledge of Tshabangu. Despite Tshabangu’s assertions of negotiating Sikhala’s release, the opposition figure insists he has never met or spoken to him.
“The truth of the matter is that I have never seen or known anyone called Sengezo Tshabangu. If we meet in the streets we might even pass each other. He might know me, but I do not know him. I have never talked to him, and I do not know his intentions. I would be interested in seeing him,” Job Sikhala asserted.
Sikhala mentioned that he learned that Tshabangu’s lawyers were also present during his court proceedings. He claims that they tried to engage with him as if they were part of those showing solidarity.
“I was told that during my court proceedings, his lawyers were there and attempted to talk to me as if they were part of those who came out in solidarity. I was later told and was shocked, but then you can get solidarity from anywhere,” he added.
