South African singer and songwriter, Tyla Laura Seethal, popularly known as Tyla has responded to social critics who blamed her for not embr@cing her race.
Born and raised in Johannesburg, the ‘Water’ hitmaker emphasised that she is coloured in South Africa and proudly a black woman.
“I never denied my blackness, I don’t know where that came from…I’m mixed with black/zulu, irish, Indian and I’m coloured”, she exclaimed.
She ended her post with an enthusiastic “Asambe”: Zulu for “Let’s go!” to further disperse questions and debates of her coloured ethnicity.
The grammy award winner sparked this racial and cultural war when she previously declined to discuss her Coloured ethnicity during an interview at the Breakfast Club show.
