A woman has remarried after her first husband was arrested for failing to repay loans he took out to fund their wedding. The story, originally reported by Tuko and shared on the Facebook platform “Hot in Juba,” details how the woman, named Paleki, a journalist, divorced her first husband, Garang John, who was also a news anchor.
Garang John had been arrested after being unable to repay millions of pounds borrowed for their extravagant wedding in 2016. Eight years later, Paleki found love again and remarried, celebrating her traditional wedding on July 27th.
According to the Facebook post, “Garang John’s ex-wife Paleki remarries after divorce. Paleki, the ex-wife of exiled former SSBC news anchor Garang John, has found love again. Paleki, then a news anchor at SSBC and musician, married Garang John in 2016 at a lavish wedding in Freedom Hall, Juba. However, the marriage fell apart after Garang was arrested in Juba for failing to repay the loans for their wedding. Paleki has now married Ngino Along in a traditional wedding. Garang John, who became a vocal government critic after his detention in Blue House last year, is currently in exile.”
