A man is struggling with three marriages, including one with a woman living in Canada. Mudavanhu Sanyika tricked her into thinking he was single when they got married.
Details about Sanyika’s complicated love life have recently come to light. In 2022, he paid lobola (a bride price) for Magdalene Sharara. However, Magdalene did not know that Sanyika was already married to Divine Furusa.
They had married in 2018 at the Harare Magistrates’ Court.
On September 9, 2022, Sanyika married Magdalene, pretending to be a bachelor.
Later, Divine found out about this second marriage and took Sanyika to court for bigamy, which means being married to more than one person at the same time.
The High Court in Harare looked into the case, and Sanyika was called to face the charges. Court documents showed that Sanyika had married Magdalene while still being married to Divine.
Eventually, Sanyika chose to divorce Divine and continued living with Magdalene. He then married another woman and has a two-year-old child with her.
When asked for comments, Sanyika did not respond. Magdalene said she didn’t want to comment, claiming she was a victim in this situation.
H Metro revealed that Magdalene was trying to find Sanyika.
She is based in Canada and was working on getting Sanyika’s paperwork ready so he could move there, but he disappeared to be with another woman instead.
Magdalene had visited Zimbabwe in August 2022, during which Divine discovered Sanyika’s other marriage.
Divine filed for bigamy, arguing that Sanyika married Magdalene while still married to her.
As a result, the High Court nullified Sanyika’s marriage to Magdalene, as it happened while his first marriage was still valid. Interestingly, Magdalene paid for all the legal fees related to the case.
