The lengthy trial of Phumulani Masango, a 32-year-old man from Nineva village in Mbembesi, Matabeleland North, culminated in a three-year prison sentence for his heinous acts against three teenagers.
Convicted on multiple counts, including kidnapping, criminal insult, fraud, and theft, Masango’s crimes involved coercing the minors into s3xual acts under the false pretense of being a police officer.
On March 18, 2024, Masango approached two juveniles near the Fingo Business Centre, claiming they were drunk and ordering them to accompany him to a police station, which he never entered.
Instead, he took them to a secluded location where he forced them to wear condoms and masturbate under duress; despite their inability to ej_culate initially, he persisted in humiliating them until they complied.
Additionally, on March 29, he targeted another boy, repeating his abusive tactics.
Alongside these s3xual offenses, Masango also engaged in fraudulent activities, such as impersonating a lawyer to swindle a victim out of $250, which only surfaced after his arrest for impersonating a police officer.
The heinous nature of Masango’s actions and his manipulation of authority figures to exploit vulnerable youths ultimately led to his conviction and subsequent sentencing.
