In a deeply troubling turn of events in Zvishavane, a 27-year-old woman named Talent Sibanda has been apprehended for allegedly committing infanticide, following the sh0cking revelation that she strangled her newborn baby shortly after giving birth.
The tragic incident took place in Takaenda village under the jurisdiction of Chief Masunda on the evening of October 27, 2024, as confirmed by Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, the Midlands police spokesperson.
Concern arose when Peterson Tauro, Sibanda’s uncle, became aware of rumors suggesting that she was no longer pr3gnant and decided to investigate the situation at her home.
To his horror, Sibanda confessed to him that she had indeed delivered a baby girl, whom she claimed to have k!lled by strangulation before burying the body in her yard.
Disturbed by this revelation, Tauro promptly alerted the authorities, leading to a swift police response that resulted in the exhumation of the infant’s body for a post-mortem examination at Zvishavane District Hospital.
