President Emmerson Mnangagwa has today, 09 December 2024, officially commissioned the 6th and 7th phase Expansion project at the Varun Beverages Plant in Ardbenie, Harare. President Mnangagwa arrived the the Varun Beverages together with his deputy Dr C. Chiwenga and other senior government officials.
The new phase of Varun Beverages Zimbabwe Expansion Project is primarily investment in the snacks business. PepsiCo Holdings has granted the franchise to Varun Beverages Zimbabwe this will see commencement of manufacturing, distribution and sales of Simba Munchiez, a popular PepsiCo snack brand, here in Zimbabwe.
Speaking during the commissioning of the new phases, Confederation of Zimbabwe Retailers (CZR) president Denford Mutashu, commends President Mnangagwa’s efforts in creating a stable and hospitable investment climate that has seen investors flocking into Zimbabwe. The country has seen a strong recovery in investor interest under the 2nd Republic. In April last year the President officially commissioned the 4th and 5th phase of the project.
Earlier in 2024, Varun Beverages made an additional investment to increase its production capacity in both its Aquaclear bottled water and multi-serve.
Now, the company can produce an additional 1,2 million water bottles and one million multi-serve bottles per month.
