The recent demonstration of revolutionary energy technology by Zimbabwean inventor Sungulani Maxwell Chikumbutso has become a subject of controversy following the deletion of posts from the X accounts of President Emmerson Mnangagwa, government spokesperson Nick Mangwana, and the Ministry of Information, Publicity, and Broadcasting.
These posts had originally touted Chikumbutso’s claims regarding his microsonic energy device, which he asserts can power vehicles and generators using radio waves—a concept touted as potentially groundbreaking if verified.
Chikumbutso’s presentation to President Mnangagwa featured a modified electric vehicle, reportedly derived from a Chinese-manufactured car available on Alibaba.

According to Chikumbutso, his microsonic energy device allows this vehicle to run indefinitely without charging by converting radio frequencies into usable energy.
However, the removal of the promotional posts has led to speculation regarding the credibility of Chikumbutso’s invention.
Observers are divided on whether the deletions stem from concerns over the technology itself or possible political ramifications.
As of now, neither the government nor Chikumbutso has offered an official explanation for the deletions, leaving many questions unanswered.
Chikumbutso’s claims regarding his technology have evolved over the years. In 2013, he stated that his device generated power “from air,” but he now describes it as harnessing radio frequencies for energy production.
He insists that this technology has the capability to power various vehicles, including cars, helicopters, and motorbikes.
The timing of these claims is particularly ironic, as Zimbabwe continues to grapple with a severe electricity crisis, facing daily power outages exceeding 15 hours throughout the nation.
