A 34-year-old woman named Happiness Chimbangu, from Bulawayo’s Cowdray Park suburb, has been accused of murd3ring her husband, Edwin Chimbangu, and their two young children, ages 4 and 7 months.
The tr@gic event unfolded after Chimbangu expressed distress over the family’s financial struggles, stating they were living in “abject poverty” as reported by ZimLive.
The sequence of events leading to this horrific crime began on Thursday morning when Happiness visited her mother to voice her frustrations about her husband’s alleged lack of support.
She returned to her mother’s house later that afternoon, appearing more distressed, and ominously told her mother that she intended to take her own life.
As the night progressed, Edwin Chimbangu attempted to reach Happiness’s mother at around 1 AM, expressing concern for his wife, who was talking about su!c!de.
Concerned for her daughter, Happiness’s mother, along with two church members, went to their home to provide counseling.

After the meeting, which took place around 1 AM on January 30th, 2025, they left, believing that Happiness would be alright.
However, just two hours later, at approximately 2 AM, Happiness approached a neighbor, confessing that she had killed her family.
When police arrived at the scene shortly thereafter, they found a devastating scene: Edwin lay on the bed with multiple deep cuts, while 4-year-old Promise was found on a mattress above, also with severe injuries. The couple’s 7-month-old baby was discovered alongside its father, similarly wounded.
A metal digger, believed to be the murder weapon, was found near the door, stained with blood. Happiness was discovered in a blood-stained blue dress when authorities arrived.
