Zimbabwe has been plunged into mourning following the death of respected church leader and ZAOGA founder Archbishop Ezekiel Guti.
He passed away on 5 July at the age of 100. Here are some facts about Baba Ezekiel Guti’s life that you should know.
Archbishop Ezekiel Guti Founded ZAOGA, Now A Global Church
He is the founder of Zimbabwe Assemblies of God Africa (ZAOGA), also known as Forward in Faith Ministries International (FIF), which has over 2,000 churches in Southern Africa and over 164 nations and states worldwide.
Archbishop Ezekiel Guti founded ZAOGA in 1960. The ministry was begun under a gum tree on 12 May 1960 in Bindura, Zimbabwe.
He Encountered God
Archbishop Ezekiel Guti had a personal encounter with God when he was a young boy, after hearing a preacher talk about the judgement of all sinners.
He went to the bush alone and cried out to the Creator, until he heard a voice saying, “Fear not, sin not” and felt a peace in his heart.
Was Married For Over 40 Years
The late ZAOGA leader was married to his wife Eunor Guti for more than 40 years. They got married in 1979. The marriage was arranged through the church and the two got married on their first date.
They had not met before marriage, as the church elders had prayed and fasted to find a suitable partner for the Archbishop, who had been a bachelor for 15 years and “deeply engrossed in God’s work.”

Archbishop Ezekiel Guti Was Highly Educated
He has a remarkable academic record, having earned a BA; MA; DD; D.Min and a Ph.D in Religion. He has also founded seven Bible colleges named Africa Multi-Nation For Christ College, with three in Zimbabwe, two in Mozambique, one each in Zambia and Ghana.
