Accompanied by fellow media personalities Sonia Mbele and Sello Maake kaNcube, Pearl Thusi embarked on a visit to Zimbabwe.
The trio and other media practitioners from the Southern African region visited Zimbabwe at the invitation of the country’s Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services.
This visit happened to coincide with Zimbabwe’s impending national elections, which, in turn, triggered a notable surge of adverse reactions on various social media platforms. Speculations emerged suggesting that the visit might have inadvertently aligned with President Emmerson Mnangagwa and the ruling Zanu PF party.

In a recent Instagram live session, Pearl openly expressed her unwavering conviction in her decision to go to Zimbabwe.
“For those people who made it look like a political trip, those people are the ones who punished the three of us, who were told we are going there for good times and tourism. I had a good time, and I don’t have any regrets whatsoever. I don’t regret a thing, so all the best to you guys. I had a scarf. What was I supposed to do? The president gave me a scarf. I took the scarf,” she said
