Olivia Hussey, the esteemed actress renowned for her portrayal of Juliet in Franco Zeffirelli’s 1968 film adaptation of “Romeo and Juliet,” has d!ed at the age of 73.
She passed away peacefully at her home on December 27, 2024, surrounded by her family.
Born in Argentina and raised in London, Hussey gained international acclaim early in her career with her iconic performance as Juliet, which earned her a Golden Globe for Best New Actress.
The film, a timeless classic with four Academy Award nominations, solidified her legacy in cinematic history.

Throughout her decades-long career, Hussey exhibited remarkable versatility, starring in celebrated productions such as “D3ath on the Nile,” “Psycho IV: The Beginning,” and the 1977 TV miniseries “Jesus of Nazareth,” where she delivered a poignant performance as Mary, the mother of Jesus.
Her family shared a heartfelt statement on her Instagram, reflecting on her life: “As we grieve this immense loss, we also celebrate Olivia’s enduring impact on our lives and the industry.”
Hussey leaves behind her husband of 35 years, David Glen Eisley; her children, Alex, Max, and India; and her grandson, Greyson. While her family mourns her passing, they celebrate the deep and lasting impact she made in the arts and the lives of many.
