The African National Congress (ANC) held a Special National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Cape Town to discuss and finalize a proposal for forming a Government of National Unity (GNU).
The meeting, attended by ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa and other NEC members, aimed to engage with various political parties following the recent election results. ANC Secretary General Fikile Mbalula emphasized the party’s commitment to putting the people of South Africa first and engaging maturely with other parties, despite the challenges and public anxiety surrounding the talks.
No final decision was reached on the terms and conditions of the GNU during the meeting.
