MABELREIGN community have been experiencing sleepless nights and losing their belongings to armed robbers for the better part of the past week.
A number of people have fallen victim to three armed robbers driving a maroon Nissan Sylphy registration (AEU 7146) targeting those holding handbags, luggage and cellphones.
One of the robbers is female.
One of the victims, Memory Dzimiri was ordered to surrender her handbag containing a Huawei Nova cellphone, national identity card and US$21.
On Sunday at around 1145 hours, Memory was walking along Hallingbury Road while holding a black bag. Suddenly the robbers drove past her, turned into Stone Road and stopped.
She proceeded with her journey.
When she reached Stone Road, she saw the vehicle parked and one of the robbers produced a pistol and demanded the bag which she was carrying.
Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the case saying other victims Shevedzo Chitokwindo, 23, and Sheanesu Chitokwindo, 26 reported the same vehicle used by the robbers on the same day.
“Police are investigating armed robbery cases in Mabelreign where people lost their belongings after being confronted by the armed robbers,” said Insp Chakanza.
