Five elephants, belonging to a herd inhabiting the Mavuradonha wildlife area in Zimbabwe, made an unusual detour into the Shamva district, roaming into the community and triggering a crisis.
Newsreportzim.com learnt about the above from a tweet posted by Herald.
The locals spotted the elephants and immediately alerted Zimparks authorities who quickly responded, attempting to corral and move the animals away from the populated area. As the situation escalated, experts were forced to take extreme measures to protect both the community and the elephants themselves.
Despite the best efforts of the authorities, it became necessary to euthanize two of the elephants that had strayed into the Shamva district. The decision, made with the intention of safeguarding the community, underscores the challenges posed by human-wildlife conflict. The two elephants, majestic yet ill-fated, lost their lives in this regrettable encounter.
