A woman from Bulawayo caused a stir after she eloped with her secret l0ver on the night of her wedding, leaving her new husband alone.
Sisasenkosi Mpofu married Mbongeni Moyo, a church elder, in late May but vanished just hours after the ceremony to spend the night with Geshom Gwatiringa, a police officer. This upset both families.
After returning home the next day, Moyo confronted Mpofu about her absence, but she couldn’t explain where she had been. When he looked through her phone, he found romantic messages between her and Gwatiringa. Under pressure, Mpofu admitted she had spent the night with him.

The situation escalated when Moyo, along with his brother-in-law and friends, went to Gwatiringa’s house a few days later. They confronted him, accusing him of cheating with a married woman. An altercation broke out, during which they assaulted Gwatiringa and forced him into their car, heading toward a police station.
On the way, they continued to beat him, and he collapsed from severe injuries after they left him at the station. Gwatiringa was taken to Mpilo Central Hospital for treatment, and Moyo and his accomplices were later arrested following the incident.
