GLEN VIEW residents have raised concern over the living conditions in cabins, whose numbers are increasing by the day.
Some families illegally built cabins in Glen View with cardboard boxes, blankets and asbestos.
The residents are not happy with the way these families are living, especially those with young children, who go to school.
A resident, Gladys Shumba, said:
“The way children are living is not good for their health and well-being.
“A family of five living in one room is not safe for young children and should be declared illegal.
“The Government or Council should come and help these families move to better places for the sake of these children.”
Another resident said ladies of the night have also built cabins in the same area.
“We always see big cars parked at these cabins for a few hours and ladies moving around half naked.
“I hope the Council will come in and help us before we lose our children.”
A nurse also raised her concerns about cholera in the shanty area.
“As a health worker, I am worried about children’s health because the living conditions are bad.
“We are looking at a small bomb that will explode soon.”
