AbdulRahman Musa, an Assistant Controller of Corrections and the officer in charge of the Suleja Custodial Centre in Nigeria, has found himself at the center of a scandal after marrying the wife of an inmate under his supervision.
Reports indicate that Musa impregnated the woman before secretly tying the knot with her.
After the marriage, Musa approached the inmate to discuss his wife’s apparent desire for a divorce over the difficulties of maintaining a relationship while he was incarcerated.
Unbeknownst to the inmate, he was confiding in the very man who had become his rival.
To settle matters, Musa reportedly paid the inmate N10,000 (approximately GHS 144) and suggested he forget about his wife, whom he disparagingly referred to as “a useless woman.”

Sources claim that Musa conducted the marriage discreetly, keeping it hidden from his own staff, and did not even inform his personal assistant.
Following the inmate’s revelation of these events to fellow inmates, protests erupted inside the prison.
Angry inmates expressed their solidarity by dousing Musa with faeces and urine in response to his actions.
The situation prompted the Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Haliru Nababa, to launch a high-level disciplinary investigation into the circumstances surrounding the officer’s illicit marriage.
As a result of this inquiry, Musa has been redeployed to Kano state immediately, as the authorities seek to address the serious misconduct.
