Renowned Zimbabwean journalist and outspoken critic of the Zimbabwean government, Hopewell Chin’ono recently met Rwanda’s Minister of Sports, Nelly Mukazayire. The now Rwanda’s Minister of Sports is the former Deputy CEO of Rwanda Development Board.

Through his social media X(formerly known as twitter), the journalist wrote the following:
“Today, I had the pleasure of meeting Rwanda’s Minister of Sports, Nelly Mukazayire.
She is also the former Deputy CEO of Rwanda Development Board the country gate the Investment and Economic transformation.
She shared the country ‘s vision to become a global sport hub starting with Grassroot sports development with a focus on creating sports academies to nurture talent.
I introduced her to Zimbabwean football legend and former Manchester City striker Benjani Mwaruwaru.
In no time, she organised a Zoom meeting with Benjani and her ministry’s team.
I am sharing this story to show Africans why certain countries are progressing.
No bribes to meet a minister, no underhanded deals, just straightforward engagement.
Leadership matters.
Whenever I travel abroad, I look for new business opportunities not just for myself, but for my compatriots too, if we all stand up for each other and support each other’s endeavours, we will go far.”
