A domestic dispute regarding grocery distribution has led to a woman’s d3ath in Chipinge, Zimbabwe.
The incident occurred on December 8, 2024, and has left the victim’s family and the local community in sh0ck.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) of Zimbabwe, Isiah Simango, 28, is accused of k!lling his wife after an argument escalated over claims of favoritism in how groceries were allocated between their families.
The conflict began when Simango alleged that his wife was prioritizing purchases for her mother while neglecting his own.
As tensions rose, the argument took a violent turn. Reports indicate that Simango struck his wife on the head with a mattock—an agricultural tool—inflicting critical injuries.
In a further act of brutality, he then bound her hands and legs with cloth, leaving her immobilized.
To conceal the crime, Simango reportedly locked their home from the outside and fled, leaving her behind.

The grim reality of the situation emerged when neighbors began to notice a foul smell coming from the couple’s residence. Investigations by authorities revealed the wife’s lifeless body, found in an advanced state of decomposition.
Community reactions to the tragedy have been filled with disbelief. One local, who wished to remain anonymous, remarked, “They seemed like a normal couple. No one expected something like this to happen.”
Shortly after the discovery, Simango was apprehended and brought before the Chipinge Magistrates’ Court. He has been remanded in custody until December 30, 2024, as investigations continue into this tragic case.
The NPA has condemned the violence, emphasizing the need for peaceful conflict resolution. A spokesperson urged the community to seek mediation in disputes rather than resorting to violence. “We encourage members of the public to resolve disputes amicably or involve a third party to mediate. Violence is never the solution,” they stated.
The NPA is also calling for a united front against gender-based violence, reinforcing their message through campaigns like #EndGBV and #NoToDomesticViolence. As the trial approaches, it is expected to bring to light further details surrounding this tragic incident.
