This is probably the collaboration anyone least expected. But it hits!
South African musical powerhouse Makhadzi has collaborated with maestro Alick Macheso and prolific producer and vocalist on the sizzling Shampopo.
Makhadzi, Alick Macheso And Mr Brown Pour Shampopo
The song is a track from Makhadzi’s new album, Mbofholowo, which means “freedom” in her native language of Venda. The album is a tribute to her journey from a humble background to a successful artist. The album features other stars such as Kabza De Small, MaWhoo, Lwah Ndlunkulu and Master KG.
Shampopo/Mapara uniquely blends Makhadzi’s powerful voice, Macheso’s groovy bass guitar, and Mr Brown’s impeccable vocals. Mr Brown also produced the beat of the song. The song mixes Venda and Shona, creating a bridge between South Africa and Zimbabwe.
Makhadzi was thrilled to work with Macheso, one of her idols.
She also thanked Mr Brown for his amazing skills and for bringing a fresh sound to the song.
“To Baba Alick Macheso, I’m speechless on what you did to our collaboration, you nailed it. I can’t wait to drop. Mr Brown what was going on in your head when you did that beat, I haven’t heard something like that in my entire life.”
The song got rave reviews from listeners online, who have praised the trio for cooking a smasher of a collaboration.
