A 42-year-old man has been sentenced to 20 years in pr!son for the rap3 of his bi0logical daughter, who, as a result of the abus3, gave birth to a child.
The man, whose name is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim, resides in Chief Hikwa, Dombodema, Plumtree, in Matabeleland North.
He faced serious charges of rap2 at the Plumtree Magistrates’ Court.
According to reports, the now 21-year-old victim testified that the abus2 began when she was just 13 years old.
According to the prosecution, the incidents occurred while the victim, her father, and his wife were sharing the same room.
On one particular night in 2013, the father exploited his wife’s absence and crawled into his daughter’s bed, where he proceeded to @ss@ult her.
After the h0rrific incident, the father threatened the young girl, warning her that reporting the abus3 would result in the loss of their family’s livelihood.
The @bus3 continued for years until the victim became pregnant and continued to suffer further violations throughout her pregnancy.
After giving birth to a baby girl in 2016, the victim fled to Botswana in search of safety and only returned home in December 2024 with her now eight-year-old child.
Fearing for her daughter’s safety, she mustered the courage to report the past @ss@ults to law enforcement, leading to her father’s arrest and subsequent conviction.
