Nigerian singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has initiated legal proceedings to gain custody of his 7-year-old daughter, Imade.
The move comes after a reported rift between Davido and the child’s mother, Sophia Momodu.
Davido claimed that he has been taking care of Imade’s educational and living expenses since her birth in 2015.
He alleged that despite his efforts, Momodu has made unreasonable demands and has been uncooperative in their shared parenting responsibilities.
The singer stated that he has been paying for Imade’s school fees, providing her with a N200 million apartment in Oniru, Victoria Island, and even purchased two vehicles for her and her mother’s use.
He also claimed that he has been providing for their daughter’s medical and health care needs, as well as international travel expenses.
Davido alleged that despite his efforts, Momodu has continued to make outlandish demands, including asking him to pay $800 per month for a nanny and a sum of $19,600 per annum.
Davido claimed that these demands have caused him significant emotional pain and distress.
The singer is seeking joint custody of Imade or, in the alternative, unfettered access to his daughter.
