A 20-year-old man named Takudzwa Mombeshora faced serious murd3r charges stemming from a tr@gic robbery incident that left a 57-year-old man, Jile Forbes, d3ad.
Prosecutors painted a grim picture of the @tt@ck, describing it as a premeditated robbery that escalated dangerously.
The h@rrowing events unfolded in the early hours of January 15, shortly after midnight, as Forbes was making his way home from a local nightspot.
According to the prosecution, led by Rufaro Chonzi, Forbes was searching for transport back to his residence in Dzivarasekwa when he was ambushed by Mombeshora and a group of accomplices who remain at large.

Reports indicate that Mombeshora and his gang wrestled Forbes to the ground, forcibly taking his sling bag.
Tr@gically, during the struggle, Forbes sustained critical injuries after his head struck the tarmac, resulting in fatal head trauma and a subdural hematoma, as confirmed by a post-mortem report.
After the violent @tt@ck, the perpetrators reportedly rifled through Forbes’ pockets, stealing a wallet with $10 in cash, an Itel 70 cell phone, and other personal belongings. They fled the scene, leaving Forbes unconscious on the ground.
His lifeless body was later discovered by another street dweller, who alerted the authorities. Forbes’ remains were taken to Parirenyatwa Hospital, where medical professionals confirmed the cause of d3ath.
Mombeshora evaded arrest for several days following the crime.
However, on January 21, a tip-off about his whereabouts led law enforcement to the crowded Copacabana bus terminus, where he was apprehended.
Reports indicated that he became violent during the arrest, allegedly biting one of the officers in an attempt to resist.
When Mombeshora appeared before Harare magistrate Aplonia Marutya on January 23, he was advised to apply for bail at the High Court. With the prosecution laying out a detailed account of the tr@gic events that led to Forbes’ d3ath, Mombeshora remains in custody.
His next court appearance is scheduled for February 7 for a routine remand hearing.
