A music festival at Makwassie Stadium in Wolmaransstad descended into chaos and anarchy when award-winning musician Makhadzi failed to perform, leaving thousands of frustrated fans in a state of pandemonium.
The highly anticipated event, which was scheduled to take place on Thursday, ended in disaster when the headline performer, Ndivhudzannyi Ralivhona, also known as Makhadzi, did not show up during her allotted timeslot.
The crowd, which had been waiting with bated breath for the singer’s performance, was left seething with anger and disappointment when Makhadzi failed to appear on stage. In a desperate attempt to placate the increasingly restless crowd, the organizers brought out a performer who bore a striking resemblance to Makhadzi.
However, this move ultimately backfired, as the frustrated fans quickly realized that the impersonator was not the real deal. Enraged and feeling duped, the crowd erupted into vi0lence, with fans hurling bottles and stones at the impersonator. The situation quickly spiralled out of control, with the angry mob setting the stage ablaze. The chaotic scene was captured on video and shared on social media, showing the performer fleeing for safety as the crowd’s anger reached a boiling point.
North West police spokesperson Colonel Adéle Myburgh confirmed that the police had launched an investigation into the incident, which occurred at around 5:15 am on Friday. The police are currently searching for suspects who were involved in the vandalism and destruction of property
