South Sudan has announced a significant extension of its transition period, delaying its long-awaited elections for an additional two years....
In a statement, Madzimbamuto clarified:
“I want to address a criminal act committed in my name without my knowledge. A letter claiming I am organizing protests during the SADC Summit was submitted under the pseudonym ‘Thomas Mapfumo’ by Tinashe Marembo, who was identified by police but has not returned to sign for the letter.”

Madzimbamuto emphasized that he neither authored the letter nor authorized anyone to act on his behalf. He also requested the immediate withdrawal of the letter that names him as the convener and Melody Makoto as the deputy convener.
In response to potential unrest during the SADC Summit in Harare, the government has increased security measures in urban areas.
