A substitute teacher in Texas is sparking controversy after publicly suggesting that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers conduct a raid at his school, citing that many of his students “don’t even speak English.”
The educator, who posts under the handle @Hookem232 on X (formerly Twitter), called for ICE agents to visit Fort Worth’s Northside High School.
He stated, “I have many students who don’t even speak English and they are in 10th and 11th grade. They have to rely on their iPhone translators to communicate with me. The U.S. Department of Education really needs to overhaul our school system in Texas,” he added.

This comment was made in response to an ICE update about their immigration operations on January 23, and it quickly attracted widespread attention and criticism.
In light of the incident, the Fort Worth Independent School District has launched an investigation into the teacher’s remarks.
“We are aware of a recent social media post referring to Northside High School, allegedly made by a substitute teacher, which has raised concerns within our Fort Worth ISD community,” the district stated. “We are taking this situation seriously and are conducting a comprehensive investigation to clarify the details and determine the appropriate response.”
