A woman from Harare, Portia Rudo Bvekerwa, is facing allegations of forging documents to claim the estate of her late boyfriend, Stanley Phute.
It is claimed that she only lived with him for a few days before his d3ath.
Bvekerwa told the Master of the High Court that she was Stanley’s wife in order to inherit his estate, despite having been with him for less than a week.
Stanley’s daughter, Nyasha Lynnette, has filed a case against Bvekerwa and Tatenda Ndlovu, who is managing Stanley’s estate.
In her court documents, Nyasha explained that her parents married in 1992 but divorced on July 11 this year. Stanley d!ed just one week later, on July 19.
After his d3ath, Bvekerwa went to register his estate, claiming she was his wife since April 29, 2023. Nyasha stated that she encountered Bvekerwa at the court, where Bvekerwa continued to claim she was married to her father.

She even had their marriage confirmed in September 2024.
Nyasha also mentioned that Bvekerwa has been trying to claim her late father’s pension from the National Social Security Authority.
She presented two different d3ath certificates to the court: one that Bvekerwa allegedly used, which she claims is fake, and the original one issued by the authorities.
Nyasha noted that the names and details on the two certificates do not match.
Nyasha argues that Bvekerwa’s claims are false and that she was never legally married to her father. She is asking the court to cancel the recognition of Bvekerwa’s alleged marriage and to declare it invalid.
She believes she will face serious harm if the court does not grant her request. The case is still pending.
