A marriage of just two years recently ended in divorce due to a disagreement over the wife’s surname.
Facebook user Iyke Orji shared the details of the breakup, explaining that the husband had requested his wife change her surname on social media, bank accounts, and other official documents to reflect his own.
The wife refused, citing concerns about her established identity and the potential disruption to her professional life.
She argued that changing her surname would negatively impact her followers and other opportunities connected to her maiden name.

According to Orji, the dispute lingered for two years, with the couple unable to find a compromise.
Ultimately, the husband filed for divorce, which was finalized just four days before Orji’s Facebook post.
Orji quoted the husband as saying the wife had agreed that they will only use Mr and Mrs only for the marriage certificate and that she rather quit than change her surname.
Orji’s post concluded with a sarcastic reflection on offering relationship advice, and a joking offer of “brostitution” to his newly single friend.
