A Kwekwe couple that gave birth to quadruplets last year, is appealing for assistance after the four children were admitted to hospital.
The children, three boys, and a girl, have been admitted to Kwekwe General Hospital since Wednesday after suffering from diarrhoea.
The mother, Ms Patience Muchineripi said they were recovering well after being put on drip to rehydrate them.
“They are recovering well and I can see signs of life now after being put on a drip. They were not eating but all of them had a running stomach bug. But they have recovered now and we are expected to be discharged anytime from now,” she said.
She said it was difficult to feed the children hence the call for help.
“One tin of supplement milk costs US$7 and only lasts three days. As they are growing older, they are consuming more and more, and given our salary, we cannot afford them,” she said.
Ms Muchineripi said they also could not purchase adequate warm clothing for the children.
“If anyone can assist with anything from winter wear, milk, soap, pampers (diapers), and anything for the children, we would really appreciate it as it would go a long way to help us,” she said.
Married to Anesu Mukototsi, the couple is employed by the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services are also appealing for accommodation.
“Currently we are staying in a small house which is not suitable for our family. As the kids grow, they need space to be crawling and all. We are also staying with relatives, my mother in particular, who are assisting with the rearing of the children so we need a bigger space,” said Ms Muchineripi.
The 8 months old children were born last September at Kwekwe General Hospital and have been receiving tremendous support from well-wishers.
