Barcelona head coach, Hansi Flick has shared his thoughts on Lamine Yamal’s injury, as the player has been called up by Spain ahead of the upcoming international break.
The 17-year-old suffered a ‘severe contusion’ in their 5-2 win over Crvena Zvezda in the Champions League on Wednesday and forced to miss Barcelona’s 1-0 defeat at Real Sociedad on Sunday after he was left out of the travelling Barcelona squad for their game
After the match, head coach Hansi Flick said they will miss Yamal and they don’t even know if he will return after the international break.
“We will miss now Lamine Yamal… I don’t know if he will return after the international break,” he said
Hansi Flick also issued a pointed message to Spain’s Federation regarding the player’s health when asked about Yamal’s potential involvement with the Spanish national team during the upcoming international break.
“The doctors will handle it; they will speak with the Federation’s medical team. I believe that if he didn’t play today, there weren’t any options. We have to accept it, and the Federation will make the right decision,” said the coach.
