A 61-year-old man from Bulawayo identified as Thobani Ncube and a resident of the United Kingdom, has been accused of secretly marrying his mistress while leaving his wife, Maina Nyathi, completely devastated.
The couple had been in a relationship for over 15 years, having customarily married in August 2009.
Ncube is said to have exchanged vows with another woman, Tswelelo Valela, last Thursday in Zimbabwe after returning under the pretense of visiting his ailing father.
B Metro reports that his unfaithfulness was revealed when Nyathi learned of the secret wedding, prompting her relatives to crash the wedding reception in Esigodini to confront him.
Witnesses at the scene described the dramatic encounter. Nyathi’s relatives arrived uninvited and sought to speak with Ncube privately about his betrayal.
While awaiting an audience with him, they noticed a man, later identified as a relative of the groom, changing into camouflage attire and appearing to intimidate them.
Despite requesting to speak with Ncube, Nyathi’s relatives were met with an unexpected turn of events. Instead of family elders, the police arrived and confronted them, stating that they had received reports of a potential disruption to the wedding.
The authorities claimed that Nyathi’s family was making the hosts uncomfortable and subsequently escorted them out, advising them to take legal action.

Nqobile, Nyathi’s brother, expressed his frustration, saying, “All we wanted was to ask Thobani a few questions.
We were not there to disrupt the wedding. Yet, we were dismissed, and the police were called on us. We seek justice for my sister and believe she deserves compensation for his betrayal.”
Nyathi, in an interview from the UK, expressed her shock and heartbreak over Ncube’s actions. “I never imagined he would behave this way after 25 years together,” she shared. “He would often claim to visit family, and even during his secret wedding, he said he was seeing his sick father. Two years ago, I saw a picture of him with his new wife, but he denied it, saying she was his cousin.”
Despite being in frequent contact since his departure to Zimbabwe on December 16, Ncube consistently denied rumors about remarrying. “I am emotionally shattered,” Nyathi lamented. “We built our life together, acquired assets, and planned for a civil marriage after our investments. To find out he’s marrying someone else, while telling me she was related to him, is heartbreaking. He should have been honest with me.”
When approached for comments on the allegations, Ncube flatly denied the claims of marrying another woman without Nyathi’s consent. “It’s nonsense,” he stated. “There is nothing like that.”
