A popular socialite from Mangwandi, known as Shamu, has d!ed after consuming rat poison following a violent altercation with his girlfriend.
According to Mid Week Watch, the tr@gic incident unfolded last Thursday evening (6/2/25) when Shamu caught his longtime girlfriend with another man, leading to a heated confrontation.
Witnesses say that during the argument, Shamu struck his girlfriend on the forehead with a stone, causing her to collapse.
She was promptly rushed to Masvingo Provincial Hospital for treatment.
After the incident, police were alerted and visited Shamu at his lodgings near Chifen Quarry on Friday morning, escorting him to the Masvingo Central police station.

As the police were on their way to the charge office, it is reported that Shamu took rat poison.
Accounts suggest he ingested it just before arriving at the station.
Once there, he began to vomit and was immediately taken back to Masvingo Provincial Hospital, where he d!ed on Saturday (8/2/25) at around 4 a.m.
Sources who chose to remain anonymous shared details about Shamu’s life, noting that he sold firewood in the Rhodene and ZIMRE suburbs and was in his thirties with a family.
As of the time of reporting, Masvingo Province police spokesperson Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa stated that he had not received information regarding the case.
