Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi has confirmed that three armed robbers linked to 14 armed robbery cases in Masvingo have been sentenced.
One robber received 95 years in prison, while the other two each received 125 years.
The trio—Clever Svuure (28), Vusumuzi Bhebhe (25), and Yasin Joseph (21)—were linked to a series of robberies in Masvingo.
Nyathi said the three were arrested after Police received information that implicated them in the robbery cases.
Nyathi said that upon their arrest, the police recovered a Mazda Axela vehicle, registration number AEQ 0533, various cellphones, groceries, solar panels, and various household goods from the trio.
The items were seized in Masvingo.
The arrests led to a significant breakthrough in 14 armed robbery cases, including two that occurred on January 15th.
In the first case, the robbers targeted a house in Clipsham View, Masvingo, stealing a Mazda Axela vehicle, USD 20.00 cash, a laptop, and three cellphones.
Just hours later, at 0350 hours, the same group targeted a house at Lot A Victoria Range, Masvingo where the complainant was attacked with a machete before two cellphones, cash, and valuables were stolen.
The police investigation led to the trio being charged and subsequently sentenced to prison for a total of 345 years.
