Quincy Jones, who was a famous music producer, passed away at the age of 91.
He was well-known for producing Michael Jackson’s iconic album, Thriller.
His publicist, Arnold Robinson, shared that he d!ed peacefully at his home in Bel Air on Sunday night.
In a statement, his family said, “With heavy hearts, we share the news of our father and brother Quincy Jones’ passing. This is a huge loss for our family, but we celebrate the amazing life he lived. There will never be anyone like him.”
Jones had a long career spanning over 75 years. He won 28 Grammy Awards and was recognized as one of the most influential jazz musicians of the 20th century by Time magazine. Early in his career, he worked with Frank Sinatra and transformed his song Fly Me To The Moon.

He also worked with a young Michael Jackson in the film The Wiz and produced his successful albums Off the Wall, Thriller, and Bad. In 1985, Jones brought together 46 popular singers, including Jackson, to record the song We Are the World, raising money for those affected by a famine in Ethiopia. The song became a major hit in both the US and UK.
Throughout his career, Jones composed music for over 50 films and TV shows, including the 1969 movie The Italian Job and produced The Color Purple, which introduced Oprah Winfrey and Whoopi Goldberg to audiences. He was also one of the producers of the popular TV show The Fresh Prince of Bel Air.
Jones received many awards, including Grammys, Emmys, Tonys, and Oscars for his work in music. He was married three times and had seven children, including music producer Quincy Jones III and actress Rashida Jones, known for her role in the US version of The Office.
His family described him as “truly one of a kind” and said his heart would continue to inspire through his music. Many people, including playwright Jeremy O’Harris, praised Jones for his endless contributions to American culture, noting that he was the first Black person nominated for an Oscar for best score.
