In a shocking turn of events, Jordan Phiri, the 29-year-old son of prominent Prophet Bothwell Phiri, has been discharged from the hospital after a harrowing incident in which he was accidentally shot by his father. The incident occurred when Prophet Phiri mistook Jordan for an intruder at their Bulawayo residence.
According to reports, Jordan had returned late from a family plot in Esigodini and was trying to gain access to the locked house through a window when the shooting happened. Prophet Phiri, armed with a legally registered firearm, shot Jordan in the groin, thinking he was an intruder. Upon realizing his mistake, he rushed Jordan to United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH) for emergency treatment.
After weeks of treatment, Jordan was finally discharged from the hospital last week. Although he hasn’t fully recovered, he’s out of the danger zone. The family is relieved and grateful for his recovery. Prophet Phiri shared updates on social media, expressing gratitude for the support received and urging patience as the legal process unfolds.
Prophet Phiri was initially charged with attempted murder, but the case has been referred back for further scrutiny due to ambiguities. National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the development, saying authorities will announce a new court date following ongoing investigations.
Despite the legal shadow, Prophet Phiri remains focused on his son’s recovery and the support from the church community. “We appreciate the prayers and encouragement from those standing with us during this time,” he wrote. The family is grateful for Jordan’s life and the “grace of God that continues to sustain us.”
