Durban Metro Police remain committed to upholding the law and ensuring the safety and dignity of South African communities.
Earlier on Tuesday, they arrested 9 individuals for loitering for the purpose of pr0stitution along Lilian Ngoyi Road, in accordance with the eThekwini Municipality Bylaws, which strictly prohibit such activities.
Many social media users came to give their opinion on the matter, with some showing support for the operation:
Bongani: “Visibility in Durban is amazing…. For the very first time I felt safe in Durban this past weekend. Good job being done in that city, slowly but surely that city will be clean and safe.”

Leave these women alone… in fact we should decriminalise prostitution, it’s a waste of state resources… I get that it’s unethical but why is it a crime? We have better things to spend our resources on.

“Give me that one wearing a blue jean skirt….Yes, that one. She is a wife material it’s only poverty.”
Alton: “The one with the long jeans is innocent”
Sipho: “Illegal foreigners are busy on the street at point because they bribe you our south african girls are jobless instead of trying or assisting them with jobs you arrest them shame poor girls”
It’s clear that the arrests have sparked a mix of opinions, with some users applauding the police’s efforts to maintain safety and order, while others believe that the policing strategy should be more focused on addressing other pressing issues in the city.
