Formerly known as Baba Harare, musician Braveman Chizvino has stirred concern among Zimbabweans due to his significant weight loss following his transition from the Jiti genre to Gospel music, adopting the stage name King David.
Pictures of King David’s new look have gone viral, swiftly drawing attention and sparking worries about his health.
Previously recognized for his fuller figure, the musician’s drastic transformation has left many speculating about the possible reasons, with some fearing he may be dealing with serious health issues.
On social media, users urged King David to seek medical help, interpreting his weight loss as a sign of an underlying health crisis.
Some cynics suggested that his shift to gospel music may have influenced his appearance.

Others hinted at personal struggles, with one user commenting, “I’m starting to think that he might be dealing with a chronic illness… and turned to God for solace, abandoning his previous lifestyle completely. It’s disheartening, and we should stop mocking those dealing with weight loss, as many of us are battling our own silent struggles.”
Conversely, a section of the audience chose to remain optimistic, commending King David for his weight loss and suggesting it might simply be a result of stepping away from his gym routine.
Last year, the artist unveiled his new stage name, King David, through a music video for the song “Ngoma” by Ashy Anointed (Hannok), which articulates themes of gratitude and devotion.
In a heartfelt Facebook post, he expressed, “Let us dance like David danced until his mother complained,” reflecting his commitment to his spiritual journey despite the concerns surrounding his health.
