The year 2024 ended with more speculation over the future of Liverpool and England’s right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, with it widely reported on Tuesday evening that Liverpool had rejected an approach from Real Madrid.
According to sports news and transfers, Fabrizio Romano, La Liga defending champions remain fully focused on Trent Alexander-Arnold deal for July as free agent despite Liverpool’s reject to any approach for January move. Formal talks with player side expected now as they are now allowed to negotiate following the January transfer widow which is now open.
“Despite Liverpool’s reject to any approach for January move, Real Madrid remain fully focused on Trent Alexander-Arnold deal for July as free agent.
Formal talks with player side expected this month, as they’re now allowed to negotiate,” Fabrizio confirmed.
Since March last year (2024), Real Madrid was closely monitoring Trent’s contract situation at Liverpool. The 26-year-old defender will be out of contract in the summer, and is free under regulations to sign a pre-contract deal for next season from New Year’s Day.
Real Madrid’s intention is for the England international to be an immediate replacement for veteran right-back Dani Carvajal, 32, who is set to miss the rest of the season with a cruciate knee ligament inj-ry.
