The Southern African Development community (SADC)’s Executive Secretary, Mr Elias Magosi, this morning paid a courtesy call on the President and SADC Chairperson, Dr. Emmerson Mnangagwa at State House. His visit comes as Zimbabwe will host the Extraordinary SADC Summit of Heads of State and Government in Harare tomorrow.
In an interview following their closed-door meeting, Mr Magosi said they had held fruitful deliberations. Their discussions with President Mnangagwa centred around the progress on its preparatory work ahead of hosting the Extraordinary SADC Summit of Heads of State and Government in Harare tomorrow.
“We paid a courtesy call on his Excellency as the Chairperson of SADC . He will be charing the Extra Ordinary Summit meeting tomorrow to discuss matters of Eastern DRC which is a worrying situation. It was just briefing him on the preparations for the meeting tomorrow and the agenda that will be encountered” SADC Executive Secretary ,Mr.Elias Magosi said.
The Extra Ordinary Summit meeting which scheduled for tomorrow comes after Mnangagwa expressed grave concern on the deterioration of security and humanitarian situation in the Eastern DRC which is occasioned by the offersive operations of the M23 rebels resulting in de@th of over ten south African peacekeepers.
