The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has officially announced that the first term of the 2025 academic year will commence on Tuesday, January 14, and conclude on Thursday, April 10.
This statement, issued on December 31, 2024, serves to clarify recent misinformation circulated on social media alleging an earlier reopening on Monday, January 6.

The Ministry took the opportunity to express its gratitude to teachers, parents, guardians, and various stakeholders for their unwavering commitment and support throughout the previous year.
They encouraged these groups to maintain the same level of dedication in the new academic year.
In a related story, the Zimbabwean government has completed the construction of 105 new schools across the country, aiming to improve access to quality education and address the school infrastructure deficit as reported by ZBC News.
The schools, built in both urban and rural areas, are part of the government’s strategy to align with international standards, which recommend that students should not have to travel more than 5 kilometers to access a school.
