Villagers in Insiza South district in Matebeleland South Province were left stranded following a sudden disaster which comes after reliable source of water, Singwambidzi dam in ward 7 burst out yesterday due to the heavy rains.
Singwambidzi dam which was recently excavated failed to hold the relentless downpours leaving villagers reeling from the sudden disaster.
Newsreportzim.com has been reliably informed that Singwambidzi dam in Insiza ward 7 burst out yesterday (10th of January) through the Permanent Secretary of Information Publicity and Broadcasting Nick Mangwana’s X (formerly known as twitter)’s post.
“Singwambidzi dam in ward 7 burst out yesterday due to the heavy rains. The dam is a vital source of water for the surrounding communities failed to hold the relentless downpours leaving villagers reeling from the sudden disaster. Large quantities of water which had been harvested is now being lost. The DDC advises the community not to make interventions and allow engineers to assess the damage and the correct interventions. This is one of the dams that had dried up due to the drought,” the post reads.
Singwambidzi dam was one of the three dams which were excavated through villagers’ contributions later last year. The other two dams are Msengezane Dam in Mabuze Village (Ward 5), Makoshe Dam in Mbaulo Village (Ward 7).
